Recycle! It's not that difficult. Seriously.

I can't believe there's people out there who don't recycle. Plastic bags, plastic bottles, glass and cardboard are recklessly thrown in the garbage. Obviously there's more items to recycle than the above list, but these are the easiest to recycle. Fred Meyers has a drop box-container thing for plastic bags. They also sell the reusable bags which are way more convenient and sturdier than paper or plastic bags. And why are so many people still buying plastic bottled water? It's not anything superior above what you would get from the tap. Get a Brita pitcher. Sheesh.

Here in Botswana they charge you for the plastic bags you use...to promote bringing your own bags. We use our own bags anyway (Baggu.com sells some great ones). But that's as far as serious recycling goes here they have one recycling center, but don't promote it. In Tajikistan, they are so far behind the times that they would have no clue what recycling even is...it was one big junkpile. Everything was thrown out in a heap on the road to be collecte dby pickup trucks later. It would shock you! The states and Europe is farther ahead in the recycling situation than any other country. Thaks for sharing Sarah!
