Bitter Sweet Day...

The house officially sold last Friday which means I'm renting this house back f/the buyer. Tonight will be my last night here. I'll be renting a 2/2 in Lake Oswego for the time being. I haven't rented anything in over 7 years. This should be interesting!

This house has taught me a lot about being a homeowner and more specifically about being a homeowner to an older home. One thing that seems to be key is that you can't just live in your house and expect things to maintain themselves. For instance, my brother has taught me that chimneys are a major culprit in roof leaks. We learned that the chimney at my little rental has been leaking for a really long time, causing dry rot in the sub-roof. I had no idea the chimney was leaking. Heck, it doesn't even get used anymore because the house uses electric heat. When I had my current house inspected, the inspector noted that my chimney needed to be re-sealed. Okay, so now I don't like chimneys.

This doesn't mean I'll be relaxing anytime soon. I've got projects for my rental and my tenant will be moving out in two months which means all new interior paint and flooring. :) I'm currently trying to figure out a nice garden design for the back yard.

Anyway. Today I will continue packing and saying good-bye to my house.
